June 05 A look behind the Comic Con emoticons with their creators from Play Imaginative
What was your inspiration? The STCC Logo is primarily a cube with many facets. In our mind, we thought that the simplicity of the shape allowed it to be modified, transformed or dressed up to take on a multitude of interesting identities. Since we are covering a whole bunch of genres at our show, this gave us an opportunity to be wild with my choices of characters for the emoticons.
How did you choose the characters? Our choices were basically iconic characters from popular comics, animations and movies. We tried to choose those which are easily identifiable at a glance. To further develop the emoticons, we associated familiar traits of each character with the emoticon
Why do they start out blank? All the emoticons start out as a blank cube, and allow you to watch them unfold, morph and come to life as something entirely different. The idea is to include an element of surprise every time someone uses the emoticon.
Which are your favourites? We have quite a few, that we use internally amongst ourselves in the office. We love using the 'lunch/gingerbread man' right before lunchtime. We also love the 'poof/ninja' and 'fly/iron man look alike' ones for the slightly more elaborate animations. Some are simply cute, like the 'flap/penguin' one!
Will you do more? Definitely, if time permits! We originally drew a whole bunch of other characters but they never got animated. Perhaps, next year! :) May 20 The first-ever Singapore Toy & Comic Convention blasts into town!

Today, the Microsoft-owned in-game ad agency said that it has signed an exclusive multiyear agreement with Blizzard. Azerothians opposed to seeing in-game ads in their localworld of warcraft goldwatering holes need not worry, however, because the deal is limited to Blizzard's Web sites and Battle.net,the game maker's online-gaming hub. Terms of the deal were not announced, but Massive did note that the agreement is applicable to users in the US, Canada, Europe, South Korea, and Australia. buy wow gold Massive also said today that it would be extending its aforementioned deal with Activision to encompass an additional 18 games appearing on the Xbox 360 and PC.cheap wow goldThe agency didn't fully delineate which would fall under this deal, though it did call out Guitar Hero: World Tour, James Bond: Quantum of Solace, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, buy wow items as well as games in its Tony Hawk and AMAX Racing franchises.Shortly before Activision and Vivendi announced their deal of the decade, wow power levelingthe Guitar Hero publisher signed on to receive in-game advertisements from Massive Inc for a number of its Xbox 360 and PC games.
